A report from short-term rental giant Airbnb lists Kamloops among the top domestic winter destinations for Canadians.
A news release from communications company Veritas Inc. noted Kamloops was one of four Canadian ski destinations that cracked the top-10 list for domestic winter vacation spots.
“Kamloops is making its mark as a winter destination thanks to its stunning landscapes and reputation for outdoor adventure,” the news release said. “The area’s mild winters and access to incredible skiing and snowshoeing make it a draw for nature lovers.”
Airbnb’s list includes the top 10 trending winter domestic destinations by search by Canadian guests in the third quarter of 2024.
Kamloops is one of two trending B.C. cities, with Vancouver also making the top 10.
Edmonton also made the cut, alongside Toronto.
Two other Ontario destinations were represented, including Blue Mountain, a ski resort, and the city of North Bay.
The top 10 list also included Quebec cities Trois-Riveres, Mont-Tremblant and ski destination Orford, and Moncton, N.B.
The news release said the list of domestic destinations showed a preference for ski spots this year.
Canadians searching for international destinations are opting for trips to South America, Central America, Asia and Europe and leaving out U.S. travel, the release said.
