“This is our 38th Rotary Christmas Crafts Fair,” said Emily Bell, co-organizer of the event. “This successful arts and craft show had its early roots as a yard sale near the east gates for two years. It was then moved to the Gananoque Recreation Centre for an additional two-year period. Its continued growth to more than 130 vendors required the show to be moved to Gananoque Secondary School in Gananoque where it is presently located. The Rotary Club must be doing something right – we’re still seeing 104 vendors coming this year with different areas of crafts.”

Everything needed to make the holidays complete will be found at the sale. The local rotary members will be selling homemade chicken pot pies, sandwiches, cookies, and donuts to satisfy hungry shoppers. Vendors will be providing everything imaginable in holiday and gift items.

“The (Gananoque) Rotary Club has worked hard to offer these displays of over 100 vendors with about 60 per cent of them new and enticing,” said Bell. “There will be hand-carved decoys, a wide variety of dolls and doll clothes, puzzles, and toys, and an intriguing choice of handmade bath, beauty, and body care products to soothe the soul.

“For wood lovers, we have it all – furniture, signs, art, benches, and products from reclaimed wood.  It wouldn’t be Christmas without jewellery, silver, crystal, lockets and charms.  If you can imagine it we probably have it.  If you’re looking for leggings, dresses, leather, quilted items, spices, cookware, nutrition products, baby gifts, jeweled candles and glass art, the choice is excellent.  There is Christmas décor galore – wreaths, tree ornaments and endless ideas for dressing up your home.  We have home baking, Christmas cakes, jams, jellies and of course the ‘peanut lady’.

“While the majority of vendors are from our surrounding area, we continue to see more and more vendors as far as Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa offering diversified items.  The arts and crafts show is a great place to start your Christmas shopping with something for everyone.”

Admission to the crafts fair is $3.50 per person, and it is suggested to come early and often to get the best selection.
